Fall Shakers

Hiya and happy Sunday 🙂

Fall is here! Might not feel like it in some parts of the world, but the calendar says so. Soon the leaves will be dropping every where but first they’ll turn with magnificent colors – Oh I can’t wait!

To bring you in the mood, I made two cards. They were originally flat cards but I turned them into shakers. Just can’t help that urge to make it a bit more challenging.

You’ll find both cards in the JGW Harvest Wishes kit and the first one I played with, is the 3 Vintage Pumpkin Card:

DSC_0016

For this card, I used AC Cardstock in Oregano, Butterscotch, Apricot and Rouge along with patterned paper from Carta Bella’s Collection “Hello Fall”

It is very easy to make such a card into a shaker card if you own a Silhouette Cameo. You simply undo compound path on the pumpkins and make a internal offset of those shapes. You cut these shapes 5-6 times and layer them and glue this shape unto the back piece. Then you take your first made shapes and cut them in acetate. You layer the original pumpkin piece onto the acetate and glue it down. Now you find the glitter and confetti you want to use in the shaker and gently put it into the raised shape and close the pumpkin by gluing the top piece with the acetate onto the raised shape. Voila!

I sure hope I made sense there!

Next I made (with the exact same procedure) the Leaf Flake Card:

DSC_0017

For this I used AC Cardstock in Leaf, Apricot and Rouge along with the patterned paper from Carta Bella. The top panel of the card is cut in Rose Gold Foil Sticker paper (grrrr 😦 …..doesn’t show well on the picture) and for both cards I used various glitters and glass beads from my stash along with confetti from Nuvo.

Hope you enjoyed my post today – Fall isn’t over yet and neither am I, so look forward to more Fall projects from me.

August Sunflowers

August – the last month of Summer and time for the lovely Sunflowers to follow the sun all day. Such an amazing flower a Sunflower is. Not only is it beyond beautiful but it also provides us with food. Mmmmm Sunflower seeds.

August equals Sunflowers to me and that’s why I chose to make two small Sunflower projects to show you today.

The first is the Sunflower Hidden Giftcard card from the JGW Sunflower Sunshine kit:

DSC_0006

I made it from AC Cardstock in Mustard, Apricot, Spinach and Moss along with patterned paper from Graphic 45’s Time to Flourish Collection.
I embossed the leaf with a embossing folder from Cuttlebug, inked all the edges with distress ink and tied a small Graphic 45 tag onto the gift card part of the card…..

…. because you can pull out the hidden tray for the gift card.

I also made the Sunflower card into a Shaker card by making some rings and gluing them under the top flower along with a piece of acetate. The shaker glitter is among other from Nuvo and Finnabair.

To go with this cute card, I made a small gift box – the Sunflower 3D Hex Box with Bee

DSC_0008

This darling little starshaped box, is made from AC Cardstock in Cranberry, Mustard, Chestnut and Apricot and decorated with patterned paper also from the Graphic 45 Time to Flourish Collection.

Instead of making the original flower center, I chose to make a chunky glitter center by gluing all kinds of glitter and tiny glass pearls onto a thick coat of glue. Sorry the picture doesn’t do it enough justice because it’s really beautiful.

Here are the two projects together:

Thank you for joining me today. I hope you like my two Sunflower projects – please let me know in a comment below.

Spring Shaker Cards

Ahhhh – such a beautiful day here in Denmark today. Spring has arrived and temperatures are rising 🙂 All I need now is for the wind to settle and for my hubby to break out the hammock so I can go take a nap in the garden 😉

But first I want to show you three cards I made this week. I wanted to make these cards a bit more interactive, so I turned them into shaker cards 🙂 All of the cards can be found in the SnapDragon Snippets Store and in the Silhouette Design Store.

First of is the Bee Trio A6 Card :

DSC_0018

This made with AC Cardstock in Vanilla, Chocolate, White, Black and Melon and decorated with patterned paper from BoBunnys “Garden Journal Collection”.

All I did (and this goes for all three cards) was to make the shaker pieces by “releasing compound path” in the Silhouette software and make an internal offset of the bees body. Then I cut out six of these for each bee and glued them together. I made the acetate piece by removing the stripes on the body to get at full piece (again “release compound path) and glued the normal body onto it. Then I filled the shakers with glitter and tiny glass pearls and glued the acetated body on top. Finally I added three tiny pearls to the bees eyes.

I also made a little sentiment by using the sketch function in the Silhouette Software.

Next is the Posies Trio Shaped Card:

DSC_0020

This one is made from AC Cardstock in Vanilla, Sky, Wine, Lavender and Bubblegum and decorated with patterned paper from BoBunnys “Secret Garden Collection”. This one is a bit easier than the bee one, because you just have to internally offset the flowers to make the shaker part and the acetate is made from the original flower.

Finally there is the Butterfly Trio A6 card:

DSC_0024

This is made from AC Cardstock in White, Bubblegum, Latte, Sky and Mint and with patterned paper from BoBunnys “Butterfly Kisses Collection”.

The method to making this, is the same as with the bees.

I hope it all makes sense – otherwise just ask. It is really simple ones you get the hang of it and it’s really fun to make plain cards into interactive fun shaker cards.

New Years Eve Decorations

Hello again and Happy Sunday.

It’s New Years Eve tonight (Yay) and that is a special occasion around my house. My hubby and two boys are more excited for this evening than for their Birthday or even for Christmas. So naturally we make a big deal out of it – even if we’re only 4 or 5 people around to celebrate it.

Every year I make decorations for New Years Eve and some is kept for next year and some don’t survive (yes it gets pretty wild around here)

This year I set my eyes on the new Candles in Three Sizes for LED Tea Lights from an upcoming kit from SVG Attic. Watch for it in a set next summer for early Christmas crafting. You can also find the Candles in the Snapdragon Snippets store or in the Silhouette Design Store.

DSC_0009

These are very easy to make and I made all three in a jiffy. I decided, that since they are meant as decor for New Years Eve, I not only wanted them to be candles but to look like small crackers/fireworks as well. The little “fuse” or paper flame is included with the candles and is simply assembled by rolling it on a pencil or something similar and gluing the tube together. Then curl the long strips. I just put it over the LED flame but you can also glue it inside the candle hole.

I made the candles in AC Cardstock in Black and decorated them with AC POW glitter paper with a chevron pattern in silver.

And what is New Years Eve without  Champagne or Champagne glasses?

So I made two 3D Champagne Glasses from the JGW New Years Celebration kit

DSC_0002

I didn’t use acetate on mine or decorated them with gems or stones but kept them in the same color scheme as the rest of my decorations: Black, White and Silver. I don’t plan for using them for candy but I might use them as candle holders – a LED Tea Light fits perfectly in them.

I used AC Cardstock in White for the glasses and decorated them with AC POW glitter paper in Silver and Black. On the top of the glasses I put some glitter washi tape from my stash.

I must say that these were also very easy to make. The trick is to use a pencil or wooden dowel inside the stem as it helps to hold the top onto the stem and makes it more sturdy.

But wait…..there is more 😀

Next is the Rocket Lantern from Dreaming Tree.

DSC_0007

This was very easy to make and I didn’t change much except the colors, left out the pipe cleaners and added some extra stars.

It is made from AC Cardstock in Black and decorated with AC POW glitter paper in Silver. I added a color shifting LED light into the rocket and it’s ready to fly 😉

Then I made a banner:

DSC_0007

This one I found in the Silhouette Design Store (design #64583) and it’s designed by Lori Whitlock. I just love the intricate design – almost looks like lace and I found it perfect for my New Years Eve decor. It’s written in Danish and says “Happy New Year” 🙂

I made it in Black AC Cardstock and backed it with silver glitter paper – don’t you think it’s unbelievably beautiful? This one can last some years as I didn’t write any numbers on it 😉

Instead I made those numbers  – 2018 – from Lori’s 3D Simple Numbers that also found in the Silhouette Design Store (#125495)

DSC_0011

I stayed true to my color scheme and made them in AC Cardstock in Black and White along with POW Silver glitter paper. My intention is to let a LED Light String run through the letters for some extra attention 😉 I also think I might have to use a pop dot to hold them upright through out the night 😉

I also made a bottle tag 😀

DSC_0004

This one can also be found in the Silhouette Design Store (design #239620), is designed by Daniela Moscone and is very straightforward to make. I used pop dots on the 1 and the 0 for some effect.

It’s made of AC Cardstock in White and Black along with POW glitter paper in Silver and Black.

Finally I made place cards and these I also found in the Design Store (design #238336) and they are designed by Studio Ilustrado.

DSC_0013

I altered them a bit by removing the clock and making the zero in several layers to make a shaker card effect and used some black glitter along with silver stars inside. The card itself is also made from AC Cardstock in Black and White with POW Silver glitter paper.

I hope I can show you some before and after shots of the table and the decor (so you can see the mayhem and destruction 😀 )

Well that was what I had to show you today. I wish a Happy New Year to all of you and hope to see you a lot more in 2018

Update:

The promised before and after shot:

Dun Dun Dun Dun …….

….we all know this tune! You know – the Theme from Jaws! A fitting soundtrack for my tiny post today 😀

The other day when I posted the Acorn Shaker, Team Member Lee Cox mentioned her idea of making a shaker card from the latest collection by Bird – Jawsome but she didn’t have the time for it, so she gave the idea to me. Trying my best to honor her wicked idea, here is what I came up with:

DSC_0002

I used the shark from the Shark Window Card and made it into a shaker card by adding 7 layers behind the front layer with the acetate. I removed the teeth on the back layers to give more room for shaking and made two front layers with teeth – one in red and one in white – to give the impression of bloody teeth. I also cut out tiny fish skeletons in white pearl paper and added a bit of red ink to make them look bloody 😀

The background paper I found in the Silhouette Design Store but any sea or wave paper could do.

The card is a freebie from the Card Bundles – the Pop-Up Slider Card from Card Bases. I added the green panels (they are actually the same olive green as the background) to give it a little extra and cut the text from red cardstock in a blood dripping font 😀

Finally I tied some red, white, grey and black raffia onto the slider (doesn’t show in the picture 😦 ) and added two small black pearls as eyes.

Here’s a little close-up:

Yummy!!!!

Thanks for stopping by to witness the twisted and bloody mind of mine (and Lee Cox’s) and don’t forget to tell what you think of this bloody fish-eating shark card 😀

Acorn Shaker

Soon Summer has ended and my favorite season of all – Fall – will be upon us in all its glorious colors and beautiful blue cool sky ❤

I must admit that I haven’t longed for Fall as much this year as the previous years cause Summer here in Denmark hasn’t been all that hot. Still when I look through my scrap papers and I find one with Fall colors, I just can’t wait ’till all the leaves turn and it again is time for hot cocoa and sweaters 😀

Today I want to show a Fall Easel Card. It’s made from two of Bird’s SVG files: The Easel Card 2 (found here ) and the Acorn Shaker Place Card from the Autumn Leaves SVG Collection (found here)

DSC_0003

For this beautiful card I used AC Cardstock in Vanilla and Olive along with patterned papers from BoBunny – Autumn Song (one of my favorite collections). I “inked” the edges of the card with some Gold Metallic Lustre from DecoArt and used some different color sequins from my stash.

I followed the instructions on making the Acorn Shaker up to the point where you use 7 layers to make the shaker. I just added 7 more layers on top of the Acorn and used gold foil on the top layer. I also made a piece for writing by making an offset of the patterned paper piece and then I added two tiny jewels as stopper.

I’m definitely going to make more Shaker Cards in the future – this was fun!!!

Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to write me a little something ❤
