Winter is coming…or already here. This means it’s dark in the morning and dark early in the afternoon – at least here in Scandinavia.
It’s also Christmas time and the old pagan Winter Solstice feast, that celebrates the Midwinter and the returning of the light.
No matter what you believe in, it’s time to break out the candles and get cozy with their beautiful light. In my house, we don’t use candles of stearin as much anymore. We use a lot of LED candles instead that are better for your health and don’t pose a fire hazard. They are also great to use in homemade lanterns of paper and it just so happens I made such a one to show you today 😉
My choice fell on the 3D Star Lantern from Simply Crafty SVGs:
This was originally made for the 4th. of July but it can just as well be used for Christmas.
I downsized it by 50% and changed the small firework burst on the sides with a snow flake.
It’s made from AC Cardstock in Vanilla and decorated with patterned paper from DCWV’s “Christmas Plaid” and gold glitter paper from Artemio. I used vellum behind the star cut outs and tied a length of Boxwood Twine from Tim Holtz Ideaology.
It’s perfect for a normal sized LED tealight and it would look awesome if you made several of them and decorated your Christmas table with them – maybe one for each guest kinda like a place card. 🙂

See you again soon I hope.
