To Travel is To live…..

….our famous national writer and story teller once said – and man is he right!!! Spent today starting on preparations for our annual summer holiday. This year we’re going to Italy – Lago di Garda ❤ And this started me daydreaming about wonderful Italy….the food, the beautiful mountains and the awesome old towns. So this evening I sat down and made this:

CSC_0011

The Zig Zag Bag from the Travel the World SVG Kit by SVGCuts. It has the perfect size for keeping postcards from all the places I’ve been to 🙂 I used Graphic 45 paper “Cityscapes” and AC cardstock. For the handles I used hemp cord that I braided . I distressed the edges of the tag and the cut outs and inked them. The text on the tag is Danish and reads: To travel is to live.  A very quick and useful project don’t you think?

Now I have somewhere to put all my postcards from way back when and all the new ones I get. And looking at this bag makes me wanna dream some more of Italy……and PIZZA 😀

Thanks for visiting ❤

Happy Birthday….

Hello…just crawling out from under my favorite stone, to show you what I made this afternoon. When I’m done, I’ll be crawling right back cause here in Denmark we’re having the most dull and grey weather imaginable….chilly and rainy too. Not at all summer-like weather. Then it’s so nice to have a place to sit and craft – a place to dream up new projects and keep those itchy hands busy 😉

Mary of SVGCuts just released a gorgeous kit – unfortunately for me, it’s a 4th. of July themed kit…. but then again…another chance to make the items into my own and that’s just what I did with the Vintage Flag Marquee Sign from the Happy 4th SVG Kit:

I stayed true to the sign itself – I only altered  the flag into a Danish Flag. Now I can use the flag sign for Birthdays as we usually use our flag when celebrating our Birthdays here in Denmark. I used AC cardstock in white and rouge, patterned paper from Artemino (a giant paper pad with different dotted papers) and patterned paper from Galeria Papieru “Field Lillies” The string of lights is from Heidi Swapp.

A very easy project to make on a grey afternoon – hope you like it and thanks for visiting ❤

Happy 4th SVG Kit

I’m not done yet…..

….I have one more thing up my sleve today 😉 Once again I’ve been playing around with Dreaming Tree’s newest bundle and this time its the Firecracker Tea Light Topper. No need telling that I didn’t have much use for a hat from Uncle Sam, so I made it into a Mourner’s Hat:

DSC_0109.JPG

I stayed true to most of the design leaving out some items though. I did make another brim for the hat so it looks a little more spooky 😉 I used black AC Cardstock and Graphic 45 paper – Rare Oddities and An Erie Tale. The flower is made from the Blossom Basket SVG also from Dreaming Tree (I made all 4 flowers and put them together and added a little bling) The trim is from Tim Holtz Idea-ology. I found some bats in the Silhouette Design Store (Design ID #49733 and Design ID #49734) which I glued on both sides of some purple pipe cleaners and rolled around a pencil. I glued them on the inside of the hat. Finally I inked the edges with a grey inkpad from Prima Inc.

Now Uncle Sam’s Hat has gone Halloween and is ready as a centerpiece on the table for our Halloween parties 🙂 Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to leave a small comment for me ❤

KABOOOOM……

….that’s the sound it makes when fireworks goes off and I bet there will be a lot of this on The 4th. of July. Dreaming Tree just released a great new bundle to celebrate this American holiday – the Stars and Stripes Forever SVG Bundle and from this new bundle there is this cute Cherry Bomb Lantern. But since I (being Danish) doesn’t celebrate this holiday, I looked for another way to use this cutie.

And here it is: The Mario Brothers Bomb Lantern 😉

For this I simply used some black, tangerine and pacific AC cardstock, white Bazzill Vellum, a silver pipe cleaner, tan and gold AC POW Glitter paper, gold foiled cardstock and some twine. I deleted all the pattern from the main pieces and the liners and put two oval eyes instead. On the back I made a slit for the winding key (which I found in the Silhouette Design Store – Design ID #82911) I cut off the bottom piece of the key and made a score line. Then I cut it twice in gold foiled cardstock and glued the two together, put it through the slit and glued the two tabs inside the bomb. I then glued the liner in place for a nice finish. The two blue panels on top I cut from the red glitter pieces in the bundle (just the top) and the two legs or feet I also found in the Silhouette Design Store (Design ID #21709) I moved the two holes on the side pieces and liners to be able to hang the bomb upside down (from the original design) 😉

Here’s how it looks on the back:

Finally I pop-dotted a small tea light inside the bomb and VOILA! 😀

It was rather windy when I took the pictures and the darn thing wouldn’t hold still 😉 but I hope you get the idea anyway 🙂

Thanks for stopping by and happy 4th to all of my American friends and family 🙂

Christmas…..

….in June 😉

When I saw the new Summer Nights and Flights SVG Bundle from Dreaming Tree, I saw possibilities. Not only are the items lovely in summer paper but winter and Christmas fits so well too.

So I made the Tealight Garden like this:

With the 4 holes for LED lights it is perfect for advent! The paper I used is from Graphic 45’s A Christmas Carol, AC cardstock in white and pine and some embossed gold foiled cardstock from Panduro Hobby. The small poinsettias I found in the Silhouette Design Store but you can use any poinsettia shape I think. I decorated the flower middle with gold dots from Studio Calico. I removed some of the pattern on the design to make room for the poinsettias  but didn’t want to remove too much. I really like it this way 🙂 Finally I used some gold vellum on the top part of the pattern.

So Merry Christmas from me to you in the beautiful sunshine of June ❤

Venez avec moi à Paris….

…or I’ll just bring a little bit of Paris to you 😉 The extremely talented and gifted designer of SVGCuts, Mary Rudakas, has done it again! Just look at this amazing Eiffel Tower:

DSC_0007

I just can’t wrap my head around how she does it. What brilliant mind can come up with such a construction in PAPER :-O

The beautiful tower comes from SVGCuts kit Travel the World. I made my version in black AC cardstock and Brazzil Bling Black Tie cardstock. It looks very hard to assemble but you’ll be surprised….its actually very easy. The only thing to be very careful about is not to use too much glue on the delicate and intricate panels.

I wanted my version to be a little bit closer to the real thing, so I added a string of lights to it – that was a bit tricky to get in place 😉

Now I can be reminded of some fantastic and fun trips to Paris every day 🙂

Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by ❤

Evil Queen…..

….Chess Box 😉

DSC_0003 (1)

This is my 2. queen version of the Chess King Box from Dreaming Tree’s latest bundle King of the Castle. I knew right away that I wanted to make a Halloween version of the box and of course I wanted it to be feminine (We all know who rules THIS castle, right? )

For this project I used black AC cardstock, Graphic 45 paper “An Erie Tale” and gold foil paper. The crown I found in the Silhouette Design Store. Its from design #68288 by Nilmara Quintela and I downsized to fit the top of the box. I used tissue paper to make the pillow in the crown and lots of gems and pearls from my rather large stash 😉 Finally I embossed the top panels with a Sizzix Spider web pattern.

This looks hard to make but really its very easy to assemble – just use the tutorial video that Leo from Dreaming Tree has made…..I tell you its easy peasy!!! I downsized the box for this project to 75% so that it would fit my Glass Dome

Yes! Finally have something to put in there 😀

Thanks for visiting –  hope you like my evil version of the Chess King Box ❤
